Roma eyeing midfielders

AS Roma are interested in signing Julian Weigl from Borussia Dortmund and Sekou Sanogo from Young Boys, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Weigl, Dortmund s 23-year-old defensive midfielder, started out at 1860 Munich, and after two years there he moved to the Signal Iduna Park in 2015. Since then he has made 132 appearances and found the opposition net three times for the current Bundesliga leaders. He has also been linked with a move to AC Milan.

Sanogo, 29, spent two seasons with Africa Sports in Ivory Coast before joining Thun in Switzerland in 2011. He was their player for three years, but he spent most of that time on loan at Lausanne-Sport. In 2014 he joined Young Boys and has played 96 times for them, scoring 11 goals.

Inter without Zielinski and De Vrij for Serie A opener, Inzaghi confirms

Simone Inzaghi said that Inter will begin their Serie A title defence without key players Stefan de Vrij and Piotr Zielinski against Genoa on Saturday.

The Nerazzurri ended last season 19 points ahead of second-placed AC Milan, and have kept most of their squad for the new campaign, with Zielinski being perhaps the most high-profile addition.

Last season s Serie A top scorer, Lautaro Martinez, will play despite only having a short break after helping Argentina win the Copa America last month.

Everyone is available except Zielinski, who will rest for a few more days, and De Vrij, Inzaghi told reporters on Friday, but added that the Pole will be ready for their first home game against Lecce.

It s up to me whether he [Martinez] starts the game or comes on,…

Klopp laughs off Ibrahimovic talk

During a recent interview with Sportbladet, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp laughed off the idea that the club would try to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic following his departure from LA Galaxy. He joked that if the Swede had not played for Manchester United in the past then he would consider it, before suggesting that he isn’t sure whether or not Zlatan would want to play at the club due to the intensity levels on display at Anfield.

It’s quite clear to see that Klopp demands some form of perfection within his Liverpool side, which is to be expected when you consider just how successful they’ve been as of late.

Ibrahimovic certainly would’ve been able to bring something to this Liverpool side once upon a time, but it just doesn’t feel like they’ll be abl…

Bookmaker:

The international break may be seen as a pointless exercise for many, but when you’ve got two of the best international teams in world football competing against one another, it doesn’t really matter whether or not it’s a friendly. Between 2008 and 2014 these nations won two World Cups and two European Championships between them, and they seem to be just getting started.

Germany

The champions of the world are back to their efficient best at this current moment in time, as they prepare to defend their title in Russia this summer. Under the guidance of Joachim Low they’ve been able to consistently reinvent themselves on the pitch, all the while being able to find a perfect balance between high profile vete…

AC Milan want to confirm Ibrahimovic deal

According to a recent report from over in Italy, AC Milan want to confirm the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic during the club’s 120th anniversary celebrations on December 15. There has been a great deal of speculation as to where the popular Swede would end up, but now, it seems like a virtual guarantee that it’ll be Italy where he is playing his football next season.

If he is to rejoin Milan then his 18-month contract would almost certainly contain some form of break clause for the end of the season, which could potentially be activated if his return doesn’t go particularly well.

It seems as of Milan are covering all bases in the event of Ibra coming to town, because as we all know, he isn’t exactly the most predictable of players in the world.

We always feel the same happiness – Al-Khelaifi revels in PSG´s Ligue 1 success

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi insisted the French champions do not take their domestic success for granted after retaining the Ligue 1 crown.

After wrapping up the title with second-placed Lille s 0-0 draw at Toulouse, PSG capped their sixth trophy in seven sevens by defeating Monaco 3-1 later on Sunday.

Kylian Mbappe s hat-trick led the way as PSG completed the double after winning the Trophee des Champions, with a Coupe de France final against Rennes on April 27 to come.

While PSG s dream of European glory continues following their stunning Champions League last-16 exit to Manchester United, Al-Khelaifi revelled in back-to-back triumphs.

Barcelona will always be my home – Thiago hints at Camp Nou return

Thiago Alcantara has refused to rule out a return home to Barcelona at some stage in his career, although the midfielder insists he is happy at Bayern Munich.

Born in Italy to Brazilian parents, Thiago joined Barcelona at the age of 14, progressing through the club s famed youth ranks to make his first-team debut in 2009.

However, the 26-year-old left just four years later, moving to Germany to team up again with former Barca head coach Pep Guardiola at the Allianz Arena.

While Guardiola has since moved on to Manchester City, Thiago remains a key cog in the Bundesliga giants engine room and he sees no reason to leave.

Barcelona will always be my home, not just because I love the club, but also the city, Thiago told Catalunya Radio.

Bartomeu out: Suarez to Malcom – 10 transfers that defined Barca president´s reign

Josep Maria Bartomeu s ultimately unpopular tenure as Barcelona president has finally come to an end after the club s entire board resigned.

Barca won the treble in his first full season in charge in 2014-15, led by the thrilling front three of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.

But it seems unlikely Bartomeu s time as the top man at Camp Nou will be remembered for that success.

Barca subsequently suffered humiliation after humiliation in the Champions League, reaching a remarkable crescendo with August s 8-2 quarter-final demolition at the hands of eventual champions Bayern Munich.

However, it was Bartomeu s failings in the transfer market that helped put the Catalan giants in such a position.

While Neymar left and then Lionel Messi pushed for…
