Santos chief reveals Robinho wants Milan exit

Santos president Luis Alvaro Ribeiro has revealed that AC Milan forward Robinho is interested in a return to Brazil.

The Brazilian international was recently linked with a return to the club where he had started his professional career.

And now Santos president has confirmed that not only they plan to make a bid for the player’s services, but also that Robinho wants Santos return.

“Is there a possibility Robinho can come back to Santos? I think so,” Santos chairman Luis Alvaro Ribeiro told SporTV Arena.”

“Santos want Robinho and he wants to return, so now it depends on Milan. We will talk to the Italian club.”

Robinho came through the youth ranks at Santos before sealing a €24 million move to Real Madrid in August 2005.

FIFA close Bin Hammam case

FIFA have dropped their latest bribery case against former president of the Asia Football Confederation Mohamed Bin Hammam.

The footballing figure recently won his FIFA lifetime ban appeal in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after being accused of bribing Caribbean officials during his presidential campaign to replace Sepp Blatter.

After no new evidence was unveiled by FIFA s chief ethics investigator Michael J Garcia, he has opted to close the case and not pursue the new charges.

Barcelona end season with profit despite lack of trophies

Barcelona finished last season with a profit for the fifth consecutive year, despite failing to win any silverware, the club announced Friday.

Net profits were 10.1 million euros (15.8 million dollars), vice president for finance Ferran Soriano told a press conference.

The club s debt was reduced to 28 million euros, he said.

The last title won by Barcelona is the Spanish Supercup in 2006, a trophy for the winner of a match between the champions of the previous season and the winner of Spanish Cup.

The club, which will enter the preliminary round of the European Champions Cup for 2008-09, has just spent 29 million euros to buy Brazilian defender Daniel Alves from Seville.

Diego Lugano announces PSG exit

Uruguayan defender Diego Lugano has announced that he plans to leave Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window.

The experienced centre-back has been repeatedly linked with a January exit following a poor start to his career in France.

Despite having one and a half years left on his deal, Lugano has now confirmed reports that he will be leaving the French giants.
