13-03-2010 Tottenham Hotspurs vs Blackburn Rovers

Tottenham will look to gain a vital three points to hold onto the all important fourth spot in the league whilst a victory for Blackburn would see them all but safe from relagation.

Harry Redknapp s Tottenham have astrong history of falling at the final hurdle when it comes to qualifying for the champions league. Twice they came fifth when managed by Martin Jol. Redknapp has created a fine team with attacking flair but he will be all too aware that there are still ten crucial games of the season to get through before he can start celebrating. Their form has been good in recent weeks and Peter Crouch s performance for England will have odne him the world of good. Jermaine Defoe seems a little out of sorts at the moment but he is always a danger, particualrly at home. The team doesn t quite look the attacking force with Aaron Lennon still injured, but they should have plenty of players able to change a game with the size of squad Harry has amassed.

Sam Allardyce has had a hard time winning over the Blackburn faithful this season as he has been criticized for his no nonsense long ball game. That being said, few can quibble with his results. On a very tight budget, and after inheriting a relatively poor team, he has guided them to 12th in the Premierleague table and has amassed 34 points. Another three today would see them just three points shy of the zenith, the forty point margin, which usually sees clubs safe. With ten games to go, you feel that they would have to have a particularly bad run to drop into the bottom three.

This is a bit of a tricky one to call with Sam organising his troops well, but I think Tottenahm will have too much class for Blackburn on the day

Verdict: Tottenham Home Win
